BMW is taking in-car displays to an entirely new level with its next-generation Panoramic Head-Up Display, debuting on the company’s upcoming Neue Klasse electric vehicles. Instead of a small floating projection in front of the driver, this new HUD stretches across the full width of the windshield, creating an immersive, high-visibility interface designed for future EVs and software-defined cars.
This marks one of BMW’s biggest steps toward a more minimalist cabin — with fewer physical screens and more information integrated directly into the glass.
A Display That Spans the Entire Dash
BMW’s new system projects key information along the base of the windshield, visible to both the driver and passenger without obstructing the view of the road. The idea is simple: keep the driver’s eyes up and forward while still presenting navigation, vehicle status, warnings, and media controls.
The projection blends into the cabin, working like a light band that stretches edge-to-edge, giving BMW’s interior a futuristic feel while staying functional.
What It Shows
The full-width projection isn’t just for looks — it’s deeply integrated with the vehicle’s operating system. Drivers will see:
Real-time navigation and upcoming turns
Speed, range, and key vehicle data
ADAS alerts, lane guidance, and safety warnings
Media controls, track changes, and call info
Customizable widgets depending on driver preference
Because it spans so wide, each “zone” of the display can show different information depending on the situation.
A Step Toward Screenless Cabins
As automotive interiors trend toward cleaner, more minimal dashboards, BMW’s panoramic HUD suggests a future where the windshield becomes the main display surface. Combined with its next-gen BMW OS and AI-driven personalization features, the company aims to reduce the need for multiple physical screens.
BMW has already hinted that this technology will work alongside augmented-reality elements, making future ADAS and navigation features even more intuitive.
Coming Soon in Neue Klasse EVs
BMW has confirmed that the Panoramic HUD will debut with its Neue Klasse platform — the same lineup expected to introduce next-gen electric powertrains, improved efficiency, and advanced software features.
Production models are expected to arrive starting in 2025.
